Ram ramps up luxury with Laramie version

Slideshow: The Laramie package for Ram trucks has always meant top-drawer features, and for 2019, there are more.

Pickups are a mainstay, and in the past few years the top-end models have been kicking up the competition. The top-end models like Ford’s King Ranch edition, or the High Country from Chevrolet, mean more leather and other features. For Ram, it’s the Laramie Longhorn edition — and for the new 2019 pickup, the company isn’t pulling its punches.

The new Ram Laramie Longhorn edition is carving a new niche in the luxury pickup market, and Ram has worked to capture a true Southwestern feel for drivers and passengers. That means plenty of leather, and a few other “cowboy” touches, too. We’ve plowed through the press kit on this new rig and pulled together this slideshow to share what we found.

This is a truck that brings plenty of wood and leather to the party, but it’s on a new chassis that offers a lot of other durability features. The 2019 Ram 1500, profiled by Farm Progress recently, has a load of new features, and for this new luxury model all the options are included.

The Laramie Longhorn package isn’t a new idea for the Ram brand, but this latest upgrade will catch some attention. And the company kept its popular RV Match Walnut Brown two-tone exterior for 2019. Beyond that color scheme, you’ll know it’s the Longhorn because it has premium LED headlamps and tail lamps, unique wheels and grills.

That front nose, which has a totally new look for 2019, gets the luxury treatment with a chrome slat Ram grill and chrome header. There are also chrome bumpers, tow hooks and side steps that are standard. You can choose between 20- and 22-inch wheels with a variety of matching finishes. And there is a large belt buckle badge on the side (and on the tailgate) for this rig.

Click through the slides and ponder what this luxury truck offers. This is definitely what we used to call the “go-to-meeting” truck.
